• 10 Powerful Women Celebrate Women's Day By Sharing Their Favorite Life Advice

International Women’s Day is upon us. This year’s theme is PressForProgress, “a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity.” In the spirit of the holiday, Fortune asked ten powerful women how we can all press forward—and to share with us their favorite pieces of advice. Here is what they said:

    1. Kristen Bell, actress and co-founder of This Bar Saves Lives

“Cher once told me if it doesn’t matter in five years, it doesn’t matter. When Cher tells you something, you listen. I find myself consistently applying this to many areas in my life. It’s really helped me learn to focus my energy on the things that truly matter, and how to let go of the smaller things that don’t always deserve the amount of attention we give them.”

    2. Diane von Furstenberg, fashion designer and activist

“The most important relationship you have in life is the one you have with yourself and once you have that, every other relationship is a plus and not a must.”

    3. Valerie Jarrett, former senior advisor to President Obama

“The best advice I’ve ever received is to push yourself outside of your comfort zone.”

    4. Tina Tchen, Michelle Obama’s former chief of staff and Time’s Up campaign leader

“No one else will care more about your career than you.”

    5. Ellen Kullman, retired chairman and CEO of DuPont; co-chair of Paradigm for Parity

“No one gives you power. Don’t wait or ask for permission. You have to take it. Just go get it done.”

    6. Sophia Amoruso, founder and CEO of Girlboss

“My dear friend and colleague, Neha Gandhi, editor-in-chief and COO of Girlboss, once told me that ‘failure is not something to be feared; it is something to be cherished and celebrated.’”

    7. Sarah Robb O’Hagan, CEO of Flywheel Sports

“My Dad always told me, ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained’. He would remind me that playing it safe, and waiting for things to come was never a good recipe for success. He believed that you had to be willing to take risks and believe in yourself in order to see what you were truly capable of. It is timeless advice that has worked at so many different moments in my life. From my first job out of university when my application was rejected causing me to create a new path, to the many times in my career when I was willing to relocate to new countries and cities in the pursuit of new experiences.”

    8. Esther Perel, psychotherapist and author

“Sometimes, the right thing to do is to leave, and sometimes, it is to stay. Every choice has its consequences.”

    9. Brooke Baldwin, CNN journalist

“Embrace being uncomfortable. Revel in it. And when you get too comfortable… then it’s time to start looking for your next adventure.’”

    10. Julie Smolyansky, CEO of Lifeway Foods

“Invest in yourself and a healthy lifestyle everyday. How and what you eat, the way you move and rest your body, the things you say to yourself; body, mind, and spirit…it’s all connected. If you want to go live your best biggest life, have the most powerful impactful, purpose-driven life, you need to be at your strongest, most-nourished self.”

  • Why You Should Wear Purple on International Women's Day

Happy International women’s day 2018: International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8 every year, is dedicated to celebrating womanhood and their political, cultural, social and economic achievements in society. The day also stresses on gender equality. The day has been embraced by the world and is increasingly associated with equal rights for women and feminism.

Beautifulhalo was founded in 2014, Beautifulhalo.com is a leading China-based online store that offers fashion casual clothing, shoes, wedding & special occasion dresses, accessories and lighting. They aim at providing fashion and quality items at low prices. They are supported through a network of fans from the hottest street-shot sites. Their customers do fancy our fashion. Moreover, they offer free shipping worldwide and a generous return policy.

Interestingly, even before the world had started observing March 8 as ‘International Women’s Day’, it was celebrated in socialist and Communist nations.

It is was later in 1977, that the United Nations adopted the idea. Every year, UN celebrates the day with different themes and the theme this year is #PressforProgress.
Although the day is not associated with any one group, it brings together several governments across the world, non-profits and charities, and many women welfare and empowerment organisations, each one of them focussing on celebrating womanhood.

International Women’s Day in 2010 saw the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) bring to limelight the mental and physical hardships of women which were the result of armed conflicts and humanitarian crisis. Again in 2011, former United States President Barack Obama had declared the month of March as ‘Women’s History Month’.

On Election Day 2016 it was white, at the Emmys it was black, and on International Women’s Day, which lands on Thursday, March 8, it’ll be purple.

Purple is the official color of International Women’s Day, founded more than a century ago after some 15,000 women marched in New York City to demand better working conditions and voting rights.
The current iteration of the day is intended to celebrate women’s social, economic, and political achievements and to call for gender equality.

And given the variety of ways different nations celebrate the day—from marches to cultural outings—there’s not an obvious wardrobe choice. The official International Women’s Day website, IWD.com, has you covered there. It explains why purple is International Women’s Day’s shade of choice:

In the past year and a half, women have relied on clothing color as symbol of protest. It started in earnest with women wearing white on Election Day 2016 to pay homage to the historic nature of the contest, which saw Hillary Clinton run as the first female candidate from a major political party. Similar to U.K. history, white was an official color of the U.S. suffrage movement that took place early last century.

Clinton supporters, in particular, latched onto the #wearwhitetovote movement after the candidate appeared at the third and final presidential debate in an all-white pantsuit. (She also wore white to the final night of the Democratic National Convention.)

Women have also relied on black in recent months as a nod to the #MeToo movement and as a statement against the abusive behavior of men. Female film industry elite famously wore black to the Emmy Awards in early January, flooding the red carpet with dark ensembles in a sign of protest against Hollywood’s institutionalized sexism.
Democratic women in Congress picked up on Hollywood’s cue, donning black for President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech in late January in protest of sexual harassment.

  • Guide to Choosing Blinds & Shades

They offer a great selection of window treatment options for any room in your house. Featured styles include classic and traditional, modern and eclectic and transitional and casual. Blinds feature slats, also known as vanes, which can be tilted or angled to direct light into the room. For small space living, consider wider horizontal slats to help create the illusion of bigger windows. To maintain privacy, you can choose to keep slats completely open, partially open, or closed.

Considered soft window treatments, shades are available in multiple styles including: Roman shades, honeycomb/cell shades, and blackout.
A versatile style, shades come in a wide range of textures, patterns, and fabric weights.
Unlike blinds, shades are typically controlled by a pull-chord mechanism, which means they can only be raised or lowered.

  • 10 tips for finding the right shoes

When shopping for shoes, you want to have more than fashion in mind — you'll also want to consider function and keeping your feet in good shape. These 10 tips can help you choose the right shoes:

1.Take a tracing of your foot with you. Place any shoe you think you might buy on top of the tracing. If the shoe is narrower or shorter than the tracing, don't even try it on.

2.Shop for shoes during the afternoon — your foot naturally expands with use during the day.

3.Wear the same type of socks to the store that you intend to wear with the shoes.

4.Have a salesperson measure both of your feet — and get measured every time you buy new shoes. Feet change with age, often growing larger and wider. If one foot is larger than the other, buy a size that fits the larger foot.

5.Stand in the shoes. Press gently on the top of the shoe to make sure you have about a half-inch of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. This provides enough room for your foot to press forward as you walk. Wiggle your toes to make sure there's enough room.

6.Walk around in the shoes to determine how they feel. Is there enough room at the balls of the feet? Do the heels fit snugly, or do they pinch or slip off? Don't rationalize that the shoes just need to be "broken in." Find shoes that fit from the start.

7.Trust your own comfort level rather than a shoe's size or description. Sizes vary between manufacturers. And no matter how comfortable an advertisement claims those shoes are, you're the real judge.

8.Pay attention to width as well as length. If the ball of your foot feels compressed in a particular shoe, ask if it comes in a wider size. Buying shoes that are a half-size bigger — but not any wider — won't necessarily solve the problem.

9.Feel the inside of the shoes to see if they have any tags, seams, or other material that might irritate your foot.

10.Examine the soles. Are they sturdy enough to provide protection from sharp objects? Do they provide any cushioning? Take note of how they feel as you walk around the shoe store. Try to walk on hard surfaces as well as carpet to see how the shoe feels on both.

  • How to Match Clothes for the Best Look

Whatwears is an online fashion retailer selling trend-led clothing and accessories at prices that are almost too good to be true! So what's the catch? There isn't one! They believe that you stylish ladies should be able to get your manicured hands on the latest fashions without breaking the bank - or emptying your purse! Click here to get yours.

Here is a foolproof guide to matching colors and clothes. Everybody should learn at least some basic principles or dressing since one's outfit is the expression of his inner world.First and foremost, learn some basic knowledge about color match. After all fashion is the harmony of colors. Then prepare necessary elements in your wardrobe according to your preference, work and life style, including tops, bottoms, dresses and accessories.

    Principles for Matching Colors
Black is the go-to color for almost anyone. Red, blue, and yellow are known as the primary colors. All other colors come from a combination of these three hues. Yellow looks good with black, however as it has the tendency to look bright, it is always better to go for lighter shades of yellow when pairing with black. Yellow can also be paired with light green and light orange shades.Choose complementary colors. Two is a good number to shoot for. Some complementary pairings are: orange/blue, violet/yellow, turquoise/maroon. Refer to the color wheel to find complementary colors.

Analogous Colors together sometimes work, too. Hues that are similar to one another on the color wheel create a harmonious and cohesive look. Red and pink usually don't go together, but can actually be combined for a fabulously unexpected look if handled properly.

Tips For Matching Your Clothes One of the most important things is to look neat and clean and always have fitting clothes. Clean and appropriate outfit will leave a good first impression to others. Even if you are not very stylish or fashionable, you need to have clothes which are unsoiled, un-scuffed, and neatly fitting. If possible, design your own characteristic ensemble. This is the best way to make it your thing and avoid awkward situation in which your clothes are exactly the same with someone.

Find out what kind of colors best suit your skin tone i.e. warm colors or cool colors. You want to make sure you have a few of your favorite colors in your closet. As a rule of thumb, it is better to have some neural colored bottom like beige, black, white and jean. These are easiest to match and you can always grab, put on and go. Primary colors can work great for a monochrome look, which means styling an outfit using only one color. This idea seems basic, but when executed correctly, appears modern and chic. Utilizing only one color lengthens and streamlines the body.Remember that we generally make mistakes when we are in a hurry. So always, arrange your clothes in advance to make sure you escape a disaster.

Do not make the assortment of too many bright colors. It would be too much for the eyes. And if you are itching to put in some ultra-bright color in your wardrobe, you need to go as low as possible. For instance, a fluorescent yellow tee is a no-no but florescent yellow shoes are okay.Mixing and matching allows you to wear diversified and exciting looks even when you have a small wardrobe. Don't throw away clothes that you are not in the mood for. Try them later or mix them with other styles of accessories and you will gain refreshing look and feelings.Prepare some accessories including jewelry, scarves (if you like scarves), belts, shoes and handbags. Buy a scarf which can similarly be used in either a formal or casual context. Women can get jewelry to emphasize a formal vs. casual outfit as well by having one set which looks elegant and another which looks fun.Last but not least, a little bit of tweaking with your hairstyle, shoes etc. also helps in changing the look.

Area rugs make powerful design statements and they have the power to completely transform rooms. They can act as artwork for the floor, or they can fade into the background. Imagine taking a room with a dark red Turkish rug and switching it out for a plain sisal version. Or exchanging a Moroccan tile print for a French Aubusson. With just this one simple switch a room can go from traditional to modern, classic to contemporary, or bland to bold.

So the question is, how do you decide which one is the right one for you? Here are some things to think about.Rug StylesThere are as many area rug styles as their are furniture styles, lighting styles, or room styles - meaning there's an almost unending variety of options. Rooms are no longer limited to traditional Persian rugs or classic European styles.
Alongside these time-honoreed styles are modern and contemporary alternatives, bold florals, strong geometrics,  simple jutes and sisals, and even novelty rugs. Before settling on a style make sure to educate yourself about what is available and think about what kind of atmosphere you want to create in your room.
And remember that an area rug doesn't need to match everything in a room, but it should work with the textures and tones of the existing furnishings.ColorColor is a natural starting point when choosing an area rug.

Obviously you need to think about what colors you like and what colors you'd like to live with day in and day out.But that's not all. The color of your area rug will set the tone for the entire room so it's an important decision. If you already have furniture consider how different colors will work with your existing items. If you already have a lot of color and pattern you might want to consider something neutral, or least something that's a single color.

If you don't already have furnishings consider how different rug colors will work with the tones of the flooring, walls, and ceiling. Rugs can either stand out or blend in, so think about what effect you want to create when considering color.Rug PatternsSome people are into patterns.
Some aren't. But if your furniture and walls are all solid colors a patterned rug can really bring your room to life. Likewise, if you have patterned furniture a solid rug can have a grounding, calming effect. It's all about balance. If your room is already furnished take this into account before choosing a rug.

However if the rug is one of the first items you're purchasing, think about what pattern is right for you. Do you want something eye-catching or a little more subtle? The effect a pattern has on a room is closely tied to its colors, so consider how the two will work together.Area Rug SizesFor some reason having a rug that's too small for the room it's in is still one of the most common decorating mistakes. For most average-sized rooms, there should be about 10" - 20" of bare floor between the edges of the rug and the walls of the room (depending on the size of the room you can go as low as 8” and as high as 24”).

Make sure the rug is centered in the room and the distance between the rug and the wall is the same on all four sides. You can also use rugs to define spaces. So if you have an open concept space, or you want to layer rugs, the rules can be a little different. Think about the area you want to highlight and choose a size based on that - but remember that it's better to go too big than too small.

High Pile VS Low PileWhen choosing a rug it's important to think about what kind of pile you want - low, medium or high. Low pile rugs are generally sturdier than high pile rugs and are easier to vacuum and keep clean. They're also less expensive than high pile rugs. Rugs with a longer pile are softer, more luxurious, and very comfortable underfoot. They can help make rooms look more cozy and inviting.

As a general rule a room that gets a lot of foot traffic will benefit from a low pile rug such as a dhurrie or kilim rug, while a thicker rug will last longer in a room that doesn't get a lot of traffic.LifestyleYour lifestyle should be a big determining factor in what rug you ultimately choose. Do you have children? Pets? If so, a white rug with a high pile is probably not the best choice.

If you expect that your rug will have to deal with a lot of wear and tear, a flat weave rug with a pattern that masks stains is worth considering. It will be easier to maintain and keep clean. However if you want to create a sense of comfort and luxury a flat weave rug probably won't do the trick. Instead you'll want something softer with a higher pile. Just be aware that it will not stand up to damage as well as something with a lower pile.

Maintenance When choosing a rug be honest with yourself about how much work you are willing to put into maintaining it. For the majority of rugs you'll need to regularly vacuum and rotate it. Flat weave rugs are easy to vacuum, but you can also take them outside and beat out the dirt and dust. High pile rugs are more difficult to clean, and some will have to be either sent out, or professionally cleaned in your home. No matter what type you choose, be sure to use a rug pad, don't leave it in direct sunlight if you can avoid it, and definitely do not let stains set. If you do any of these things you may actually ruin your area rug, no matter what type you choose.

We know if CheckAdvantage takes care of its customers - you will take care of us!

It’s easy for today’s business managers to lose sight of the basics as they focus their attention on a host of other reasons why their margins may be shrinking. You read and hear a lot about the threats of offshore outsourcing. You worry about falling behind in your use of new communications tools and in making the most of the Internet. These threats are certainly real, but you’ll never have to deal with them if a more basic problem undermines your company.

In the U.S. Army, young recruits are taught this life-or-death lesson during combat field training. The recruits are alerted that three snipers (played by other soldiers) are crawling through the grass toward them. As they wait for the aggressors to advance, suddenly, across the field, a figure pops up, and the recruits begin firing (using blanks). A little closer in, another figure pops up, and again the recruits direct their fire to that target. Two seconds later, the platoon is “annihilated” by hand grenades tossed by the third aggressor, who has managed to sneak up right next to the platoon while they fired at distant targets. The platoon was “wiped out” because it failed to act against the closest, and therefore the most serious, threat.

As a business manager or owner, the biggest threat you face is losing sight of your most important target— your customer. He is the one who can blow up your business simply by going elsewhere. You may play golf with him, bend over backward to rush a delivery to him, and even consider him a friend. But you can lose him to a competitor if you lose sight of your competitive advantage.
Competitive advantage is what separates you from the rest of the herd. It’s what keeps your business alive and growing. In short, it’s the reason you are in business. Yet the biggest marketing flaw in most companies is their failure to fully reap the benefits of their competitive advantages. Either they think they have a competitive advantage but don’t. Or they have one and don’t even realize it. Or they know they have a strong competitive advantage but fail to promote it adequately to their customers and prospects.

Your eventual goal should be to come up with a hard list of competitive advantages that you can use to increase profits at your company. So get out pen and paper, or spark up your laptop, and write down the answers to the questions below. Let your imagination go. Bounce your answers off colleagues, if you like, just as I ask people to do in my workshops. In fact, it is better if you involve your top staff as well as others from different departments. The more ideas, the better.
At this point, you want a long laundry list of possible competitive advantages, which you will refine, winnow, reject, and rethink as you progress through the book. Note: You might settle on a single, clear competitive advantage with which to go to war. Or you might have five to ten or more competitive advantages with which to arm your sales staff. Sometimes a single shot will level your enemy; sometimes it takes a machine gun.

But before you begin, some words of caution. As you make up your list, bear in mind the following:Competitive advantage is objective, not subjective.  How many times do we hear a company say, “You should do business with us because we deliver good quality and great customer service”? Well, your idea of quality and my idea of quality may be galaxies apart. This kind of boast is subjective and tells us nothing. In fact, words like quality, reputation, and trust, when used to describe competitive advantage, are so hackneyed we tune them out.

It is quantifiable, not arbitrary. Which statement is more compelling: “We have great customer service” or “Ninety-five percent of our business comes from referrals”? When you make objective, quantifiable statements such as these, the customer is more likely to believe your claims. Your company may be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, rave, clean, and reverent. And your customers may appreciate those traits. But they don’t buy from you for your Boy Scout traits. In fact, in today’s marketplace, they have come to expect them as givens.

It isn’t claimed by the competition. If your sales force goes out with a list of attributes that your competitors can match or exceed, you are courting disaster. (In fact, that is the principal reason so many sales calls don’t result in closings or why salespeople resort to price as a tiebreaker.) Find out exactly what you provide that the other guy doesn’t and harp on it. Explore what that advantage means to the customer.

If it can save him money—and it often can—make sure you stress that. Better yet, tell the customer how much he saves by using you. Even if your goods or services are more expensive than those of the competition, you can still save your customers money because of fewer breakdowns, guaranteed on-time delivery, training assistance, better payment terms, and so on.

It is not a cliché. Don’t tell me that you “exceed your customer’s expectations.” How do you know what their expectations are? Your customers expect good service. How do they define good service, and how do you? I bet those definitions are not the same. After all, who would admit to providing bad service? Again, be specific. If you provide service twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week—and the others guys don’t—say so.Now you’re ready to start writing:What are your company’s most critical competitive advantages?

  • Athletes Need More Sleep

Athletes are always on the go, on and off the field, and less sleep can mean more injuries. Players who got less than six hours of sleep per night had an increased rate of injury during games, according to a University of California study; making choosing comfort products conducive to sleep crucial.

“When we design products, we keep athletes in mind,” said Contour Products President Scott Davis. “Our products aim to aid comfort by correctly aligning the body during sleep. This can not only prolong sleep, but help athletes recover when injuries do happen.”

Athletes often place sleep on the back burner. In highly trained team sport athletes, 50 percent of athletes were considered poor sleepers and 28 percent had daytime sleepiness in a recent study published in the European Journal of Sport Science. The study concluded that athletes needed to learn more about their sleep schedules, sleep longer, and have better quality sleep.

Injury is a common occurrence in sports. In collegiate football alone, 8 out of every 1000 players are injured, according to a National Collegiate Athletic Association report. The way players behave during recovery from these injuries is critical for their chances of playing again.

For longer sleep and shorter recovery time, players should consider how they sleep and type of injury. Comfort products are designed to target specific areas of the body:

    • Head, Neck, Shoulders, Upper Back: orthopedic pillow, cervical roll, bed wedge

    • Lower Back, Hips, Pelvis: lumbar cushion, leg support pillow, seat cushion

    • Legs, Knees, Ankles, Feet: leg wedge, knee elevation cushion

“We want athletes to be as healthy and safe as possible, because both everyday exercise, and injury recovery time can have a huge impact on their success,” said Davis. “Our variety of comfort products can help.”

The Contour Cool Leg Pillow was recently featured in 12 NFL players’ training camp bags.

Contour Products emerged in the ergonomic and wellness scene in 1991 as the inventor and creator of the contoured shape bed pillow with their As Seen on TV product the “Original” Contour Pillow. Since then, we have spoken to millions across the world with sleeping pain, seating pain, neck pain, back pain and everything in between. • Are You Guilty Of These Common Check Writing Mistakes?

A check is a form of promissory note that allows people to pay for items without having cash on hand. The checks are linked to a person or company's bank account, so when a person cashes the check at a financial institution, the money will be withdrawn from the account. Many people use checks every day to pay for items, but there are a number of common check writing mistakes that people fall into. These mistakes can bring about costly repercussions, so it is incredibly important to learn the proper way to sign a check, understand the mistakes and take careful steps to never make them. This is a responsible financial practice that allows people to make the most of their financial lives.
Can a check be post dated?
A post dated check is one that is filled out with a future date. Many people do this because they don't have the necessary funds in their account at the moment, but will have the necessary amount by the date in which the check is endorsed. Most people don't sign checks until they have the money, but still, too many people make the mistake of signing post dated checks. This is a risky practice, and one that should never be done. A common rule of thumb in terms of finances is to never spend money that one does not have. This means that a person who doesn't have the necessary funds should not fill out a check until they have the necessary money.
Does the written amount have to match the numerical amount?
Without question, it is important to match the numerical amount and written amount when filling out a check. The sole purpose for the written amount portion is to clear up any discrepancies that might be made in the numerical amount. Some people don't write their numbers clearly, so the written amount portion acts as a checks and balances system, to ensure that the proper amount is deducted. If these portions do not match up, the financial institution will likely not be able to cash the check.
Does a check have to be signed?
When writing a check, it is essential that the check writer signs the front. This is a safeguard against check fraud. Anybody can find a missing checkbook and make checks out to themselves, so records of the signature on the front will allow prosecutors to build a case in the case of fraud. Check depositors have some recourse if they forget to sign the back of the check if they're members of the bank, but practices are more stringent for the person who filled out the check.
Is it okay to scribble on a check when modifying or altering it?
When a person makes a mistake on a check, they are advised to scratch one clear line through the mistake and initial it. However, check writers should write an entirely new check whenever possible. While many banks will accept the stricken and initialed check, it is still the bank's discretion. In order to forego the possibility of the check being denied, a person should avoid these mistakes and re-write the check whenever time permits.
Does a check have to be written in pen or pencil?
Checks should never be written in pencil. Since pencil is erasable, a check writer opens himself or herself up to being taken advantage of when they choose to use pencil. As a rule of thumb, check writers should use a pen with blue or black ink. This practice allows for better records and more legible check writing practices.
What should I do with checks that I made mistakes on?
When a check is ruined beyond fixing, it is important to void it out. The best way to do this is to write the word "VOID" in large letters across the entire check, and when possible, scratch out any pertinent information. This way, if someone happens to find the check, they won't be able to cash it. This is a common measure people take in order to protect themselves against fraud.

  • 5 THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING SPORTSWEAR

Onsport.com.au is one of Australia's best online sports stores. We strive to offer fitness and sport-loving Australians a great online shopping experience, providing a wide range of genuine, authentic and high quality, men's and women's sportswear, activewear, fitness apparel, sports leisure apparel, swimwear, supporter gear, running shoes, sports compression, exercise equipment, accessories and much more.

Once you start working out you might think that the best choice of clothes are your old tee and sweatpants you haven’t worn for years. Being comfortable while you work out is important, but it is even more important to protect your health, and wearing appropriate workout clothes can help you achieve that.

    1. EXERCISE APPAREL FABRICS
While the most comfortable materials will always be those that come direct from Mother nature – silk, wool, cotton, and linen; when it comes to working out, sweating, and pushing your body to its limits, there is nothing wrong with choosing fabrics that have been improved with technology. Cotton absorbs water (and sweat) but it takes long to dry, and today fabrics can draw away sweat from your skin, keeping your body temperature even and giving you greater comfort. Use sportswear from both natural and engineered fabrics for pieces which do not only look good, but are comfortable too.

    2. COMPRESSION FABRICS
When you are working out, the burning in your muscles is caused by lactic acid; it builds up in your muscles and it cannot be carried away so it causes muscle soreness. When you choose to wear compression fabrics, you are giving a helping hand to your blood vessels by covering your skin with tight-fitting fabric that helps with your blood flow. This does not mean that you should be wearing items which will stop your blood flow and limit your range of movements, but rather choose clothes that will help you achieve the best results.

    3. BODY-FITTING FABRICS FOR SPORTSWEAR
Let’s get back to your favourite oversized sweatpants for a second, and picture the following: doing yoga headstand or simple kickbacks for your gluteus and trying to focus and breathe deeply while you feel your sweatpants revealing your legs and making you uncomfortable. Body-fitting clothes made of lycra and spandex remain in the same spot, and not only that but they do not change shape even after being washed many times, unlike cotton and linen clothes (and you will be washing those clothes more often than any other).

    4. WEARING SPORTS APPAREL FOR ECONOMY
High-quality sportswear is not at all cheap, but if you make plans and invest smartly, you will not have to buy new sets for every season. Buy clothes for your main sports activity, and work from there. You will need pants and choose the length depending on the activity you will be focused on (shorts, full-length, or mid-calf), tight-fitting top, high-quality sports bra, and the right footwear too. Aim to buy best-quality clothes, since it will not only last longer, but give you the best support as well. When it’s cold, simply add a warm vest or high-visibility jacket to your usual gym wear.

    5. BUYING SPORTSWEAR FOR COMFORT
If anything, fitness clothes should be comfortable: you will be spending a lot of hours sweating in it, and will be making plenty of repetitive movements, so the last thing you need is an item that is too tight or too loose. You don’t want to feel uncomfortable while running, jumping, doing push ups, zumba, or yoga; and the best thing is to focus on movements rather than wonder whether your can breathe because your sports bra is too tight.

While it may not be important to you to look good in your workout clothes, it is of extreme importance that it supports you and that it can withstand your workouts, be it yoga, pilates, tennis, or MMA. Consider all these things before you choose your sportswear and do not hesitate to change it once it starts tearing and losing its elasticity.

  • Benefits of Eating Vegetables

You could jeopardize your overall health if you don't pay attention to the foods you eat. Consuming too much junk food, for example, can lead to chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, clogged arteries and more.

Making the decision to improve your lifestyle by following a primarily raw, plant-based diet is a health-conscious decision that improves your metabolism, boosts your immune system and promotes overall wellness and longevity while reducing your risk for chronic conditions like the ones listed above. Some of the most important healthy diet staples consist of vegetables, and that's because they're so high in nutrients and provide a multitude of benefits.

"The amount of fruits and vegetables we eat every day depends on age, gender and more."
According to Choose My Plate, an initiative by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the amount of fruits and vegetables we eat every day depends on age, gender and level of physical activity. The daily recommendations, based on these factors, range anywhere from 1 to 2 cups of fruit, and 1 to 3 cups of vegetables. They recommend filling half of your plate with fruits and vegetables at every meal. We say that is a good start, but adults should strive for at least 10 servings a day for optimal health.

But just how favorable are veggies when it comes to overall wellness? Here are five of the top benefits of eating vegetables:

    1. They're an Important Source of Nutrients
When your diet consists of eating a plethora of vegetables, you're fueling your body with many of the vital nutrients it needs to thrive. According to Choose My Plate, a healthy eating initiative by the United States Department of Agriculture, vegetables are rich in potassium, fiber, folic acid, vitamins A and C and more.

    2. They're Low in Calories
Vegetables are naturally low in fat and calories. This means you can fill up on a lunch of veggies without worrying about going over your suggested daily caloric intake. This makes it easier to eat hearty meals without worrying about counting calories, and can also aid weight loss and maintenance.

    3. They Promote Optimal Gut Function
Fiber is beneficial to the body in the sense that it can reduce the occurrence of bowel problems, such as constipation. Due to the water and fiber content in most vegetables, these healthy foods nourish beneficial bacteria in the gut, which keeps it healthy and regular.

    4. They're a Natural Mood Booster
You know that following a diet rich in vegetables is great for your physical health, but have you considered how beneficial it is for your mental well-being? According to Mental Health America, following a diet that relies on nuts, whole grains, fruits, unsaturated fats and vegetables is better for mental wellness than one that consists of meat and dairy products. Additionally, MHA said that those who follow a primarily raw, plant-based diet are 30 percent less likely to develop depression.

    5. They're Great for Immunity
Since vegetables are loaded with essential nutrients, they have a great reputation for optimizing the immune system. Specifically, leafy green vegetables activate T-bet, a gene that produces immune cells in the gut, according to Dr. Mercola. Those immune cells maintain immunity and inflammation, protect the body from pathogenic bacteria, improve intestinal balance and prevent food allergies.

Beyond consuming vegetables, you may consider our Advanced Superfood product. The blend of 35 organic ingredients, including cereal grass juice powders, leafy greens, microalgae, sprouts, prebiotic fibers, sea vegetables, and other vegetables, makes this product one of the most nutritious and convenient ways to fuel your body.

Are you going out for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner, and want to look sexy without letting it all hang out?

Here are some tips on How to Dress on Valentine’s Day to look alluring at 40, 50 and beyond.

    1. TO LOOK ALLURING, SHOW SOME SKIN
Don’t make the mistake of wearing a  turtleneck on a date if you want to look sexy. This kind of coverage signals stay away! Showing some skin is youthful and alluring. But notice, I said some.

    2. FOCUS ON 1 AREA
Trying to look sexy by dressing in skimpy clothes that a twenty-something would wear clubbing will make you look hard, tacky and worn out. On the other hand, you don’t want to look dowdy. So where’s the middle ground?

To look sexy, not sleazy or silly, all you need to do reveal one part of your body. A sneak peek is better than a striptease!

For example, if you have a nice bust, try a low-cut V-neck top, but don’t try to wear a mini skirt too. Instead, opt for a regular skirt, like a knee-length pencil skirt and keep all the focus at your neckline. It’s all about balance.

    3. FIGHT THE TIGHT
Resist the urge to wear tight clothes if you want to look sexy. Your clothes should be fitted, but they shouldn’t look or feel tight.  Stop obsessing about size tags. If you’re a size 10, forget about trying to squeeze into a size 6, or even an 8.  Tight clothes make you look bigger. You need to wear things that skim your silhouette and have some stretch. Looking like a stuffed sausage is not sexy at any age.

    4. GO FOR STRETCH AND DRAPE
Soft, stretchy fabrics will flow over your figure and flatter your shape. Wrap style dresses made from soft silk or jersey always look sexy. The gentle wrap detail hugs your waist, lifts your bust and highlights your curves. This red dress, shown above, is a great example.

    5. SLIP ON A SEXY SWEATERA
delicate cashmere sweater or soft, feminine knit dress is another way to look alluring. Their beautiful texture makes you look like a fluffy kitten and makes you man want to reach out and snuggle you.

    6. TRY A LITTLE LEATHER
Leather, with its raw edge signals power, passion, and excitement. Wear it in moderation, not head to toe, or you will look like a geriatric dominatrix! Colored leather is easier to wear than black and looks sexy and modern. A leather jacket worn over a feminine floral dress is flirty and sexy.

    7. ANIMAL PRINTS BRING OUT THE TIGERPut a little tiger in his tank with a touch of the wild. Any animal print, like an animal print scarf or pair or pumps, is enough to get him roaring.

    8. SHINY, SPARKLY IS SEXY
Shiny or sparkly fabrics allow you to be more modestly dressed but still transmits a very seductive message.

    9. CHOOSE SEXY ACCESSORIES
Even if you are planning to wear something very casual this Valentine’s Day, the right accessories make an outfit sexy. Add some relaxed, feminine accessories like a soft, unstructured purse and pretty rose gold jewelry and accessories.

    10. TRY A SMOKEY EYE
Adjusting your make-up can make you more alluring, just try it and see. The eyes are the mirror of the soul, so why not try that dark smokey eye you’ve been reading about to add a little mystery. A dark kohl liner and some smudging will make you look more passionate and playful. Keep the rest of your makeup, lips, and cheeks, soft, so your eyes take center stage.

  • 9 WAYS TO ADD ROMANCE WITH LED CANDLES

When it comes to adding ambiance to your everyday and special occasions, there is nothing quite like candles for bringing that dreamy feeling.Whether you use just a few taper candles on your table or a grouping of 10 or more for a beautiful, warm glow, candles are a perfect way to add a whole lot of romance for your Valentine’s Day décor and all year long. Groupings of candles are like artwork or a bouquet of flowers: they are a finishing touch that adds a sprinkle of “oomph” to a design. And the best part about Balsam Hill’s Miracle Flame LED candles? Not only do they flicker just like real ones do, you can also use them anywhere and not worry about fires and safety. Today I am sharing nine times that these candles were perfect.

    1. Mood Lighting for a Romantic Table

Of course with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, setting the mood for romance might be on your mind. And when it comes to romantic-inspired table settings, candles are a perfect way to add that mood lighting without being overpowering.

For the perfect amount of flickering light, add candles in various sizes grouped around your centerpiece. Dot them around the outer areas of your table to light up even more for a perfect Valentine’s table setting.

    2. On the Coffee Table

Did you know that Balsam Hill has small votive sized LED candles? Those little cuties are perfect for tucking inside your mercury glass containers and enjoying a soft glow.

    3. Inside a Lantern

Think outside the box—and inside the lantern. Here are some wax LED candles grouped on the table but this time, they are also with another charming “candle” that Balsam Hill carries. These rechargeable lanterns are so beautiful indoors or out, and their light flickers away, adding a perfect amount of warmth to any space.

    4. Mixed on the Mantel

I am a big fan of groupings of candles, and displaying them on the mantel is one of my favorite stylings. To get this look, mix four or five sizes of candles for varying height and an abundance of flickering goodness. You can also use candle holders to bring even more height and drama.

    5. In the Fire Box

When you don’t have a real fireplace or a real fire burning in your fireplace, fill it with candles for a fun twist on the everyday. I used melted wax candles in three sizes for an extra sprinkle of that drippy wax candle magic, and then stacked them on books to add even more variance in their heights to fill that large firebox area.

    6. On the Porch

Always a fun way to decorate the porch seasonally, you can enjoy the same charm of lanterns and candles all year long. These are outdoor candles, which means they won’t melt when the sun comes up and shines on them all day long. And something fun: you can set some of Balsam Hill’s candles to be on auto, meaning they will come on at dusk and flicker away on your porch for a couple of hours before turning off.

    7. For Vintage Appeal in Lighting

This lantern might be one that would be overlooked on the porch because it is so high and not easy to reach to turn on everyday, and it isn’t a spot that is wired, so no light switch. But an LED candle is perfect for use in this hard-to-reach spot, and I just use the remote to turn it on and off as needed. Easy peasy.

    8. Tapers on the Table

I am a big fan of candles marching down the center of a table, and I have had more than one drippy mess to clean up after a breeze came up and sent the candles and wax all over my tablecloth. With the LED taper candles, you can easily tuck them into your garland or your candleholders, and enjoy their charm without the worry of them falling over or wax drips ruining your great-grandmother’s best linens.

    9. On the Ground

Something that I love to do but wouldn’t feel good about doing with real candles is to use them on the ground. I love to line the path and walkways, leave them glowing in the greenhouse for a party, and tuck a few into leaves or by the hammock for an extra sprinkle of charm. But safety first, always. That is why those Miracle Flame beauties are perfect. No fire worry—which means I can tuck them anywhere and enjoy the evening with family and friends.I hope you enjoyed some of my ideas for using LED candles today. You can find all of these LED candles HERE at Balsam Hill—and I would love to know your favorite ways to enjoy Balsam Hill’s LED candles as well. Leave me a note in the comments.

If you're feeling a little confused, here are the most essential international travel tips for first-timers:

Deciding Where to Go for Your First International Trip

If you aren't even sure where you want to go, this can be a big hurdle for your first trip abroad. Personally, I have always had a list ten miles long of destinations I wanted to visit someday, but even then: how was I to choose the first one?

Here are some important things to ask yourself as you try and narrow down a literal world of choices:
Do you want to stay close to your home country, or go far away?Do you speak a foreign language? Or, are you comfortable traveling to a place where you don't speak the language?
Do you eagerly look forward to making new friends and connecting with locals? Or, are you more comfortable traveling with people you already know? What is the most exciting part of your trip, in your mind?
Some options include seeing beautiful buildings and architecture, eating delicious or unusual foods, meeting new people, wanting to lay on a beach or climb a mountain, or just wanting to party.
You can choose any or all of these options, but it might help to figure out which 1-2 are the most appealing. What is your comfort level about different countries you have in mind?
Some people are willing to travel to more "risky" countries right away, whereas others like to travel in safer countries first.

Once you've thought about these questions, hopefully, you can narrow down your choices to one or two countries.
In case you're still unsure, a good recommendation for first-time travelers is to visit Western Europe or the United Kingdom. Most people speak English (even if it's not the national language), there are good transportation options (buses, trains, and airplanes), and lots of culture to experience for the first time.
Australia and New Zealand are equally easy, but slightly more adventurous destinations. If you really want to go somewhere different, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Thailand are great first-time destinations for travelers to test the waters in a non-Western destination.

Planning Your First Trip AbroadOnce you've decided where you're going to go, there are several more important things to consider:For how long you'd like to be travelingWhere you would like to visit in the country/countries you've chosenWhat kinds of places you would like to stay in (e.g. hostels, hotels, vacation rentals, campgrounds, etc.)What budget you haveHow you'll get thereIf you want to do an escorted tour, go solo, or with friendsRegarding the last point, this is a big one: on my first international trip, I did all three! I arrived on my own for a few days, met up with friends for a few more days, and then joined an escorted group tour for the last couple days. Traveling with friends can be great, but make sure you find time for yourself in each day so you don't get overwhelmed; same goes for an escorted tour. The nice thing about both traveling with friends and a group tour is that you have people to enjoy all of the sights with!

Give Yourself Enough Time to Get over Your Jet Lag and Enjoy

A 7-10 day trip is a great length for your first trip – or 4-7 days per country you're going to visit. It's enough time to really experience the cities you want to visit, but not so much that you'll be super homesick by the end.
At the same time, you'll want to take into account that you may experience jet lag. A good rule of thumb is that it can take up to a week to adjust for every 8 time zones you change. So, if you're flying from Los Angeles to London, you can expect several days where your brain and body are adjusting to the new time zone.
Some quick tips to zap jet lag? Drink plenty of water, sleep on your new time zone, and eat the first meal possible at the appropriate time in your destination. Even if you arrive at an odd hour, try to put yourself on a "normal" sleeping schedule and resist naps. No matter what, be sure to consider whether you need an extra day or two in your schedule to adjust.

Save Money by Looking at Different Ways of Getting Around & Accommodation OptionsMost international trips are going to require you to fly there, but for getting around your destination, consider other options such as a road trip or trains. I personally like using Rio2Rome and GoEuro (only in Europe) to figure out which mode of transportation will be quickest/cheapest.This is one of the biggest questions for travelers at every level of experience: how far in advance should you book your trip? Also, riding the bus in a lot of countries (Spain, Thailand, Costa Rica) is actually pretty nice and not at all like hanging around a sketchy Greyhound station in the U.S. Don't write off that option -- it can often be cheaper and quicker than the train!
As for accommodations, it's also good to look around. While hotels are always a good option, don't forget to do research on hostels and Airbnb options where you're traveling – these offer you the chance to connect with other travelers while you're there.
